Large-scale Moscow's Strikes Disrupt Electricity In Ukraine's Capital

Power facilities under attack in the region
Ukraine's energy systems have come under escalating attacks in the past few days

Overnight, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have led to blackouts in large parts of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were injured while inhabitants in eastern neighborhoods were experienced blackouts and faced interruptions to water supplies, per reports from city officials.

Simultaneously, a minor was lost their life in a different Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southern area, based on information from area administrators.

Moscow has increased strikes on energy facilities over the last fortnight, while the country's government has called for "real steps" from allies to apply pressure on Moscow.

"What is required is not window dressing but decisive action - from the US, Europe and the G7 - in delivering defensive weapons and applying penalties," was stated in a social media post.

Officials stated that numerous aerial vehicles and more than 30 projectiles struck Ukraine's energy infrastructure, describing such attacks as "premeditated" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as temperatures become colder.

Government representatives said Russia was "conducting extensive attacks" and maintenance teams were working to repair systems.

A wave of strikes hit power facilities and civilian homes in Kyiv.

Five out of the nine people injured in the assaults on the city have been transported for medical care, as confirmed by local officials.

Regional authorities said the urban area endured heavy assaults during nighttime hours. A minor was killed and several individuals were injured.

The strikes follow periods of air raids in the region, parts of which remain under the control of invading troops.

The entire country is on alert for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are more difficult to detect.

Government officials told journalists that Russia was deliberately attempting to demolish the electrical infrastructure, with attacks already affecting energy systems.

Authorities confirmed energy workers and officials were preparing for more assaults.
